The new record will mark the band’s first original LP since 2001’s Plan B, and follows the release of Soulsville in 2009, which featured a host of Stax Records covers.
It’s a welcome announcement for fans of Huey Lewis and the News, particularly following the recent news of Lewis’ Meniere’s Disease diagnosis.
“We’re very excited about our new album, and honestly feel that it’s among our best work – we cannot wait to get it out to fans,” Lewis said via a press release. “We’re equally excited to be with BMG, whose reputation as a ‘music-first’ label precedes them admirably.”
The most recent piece of original music from the ‘80s favourites arrived in the form of the 2008 theme to Pineapple Express, while others may most notably recall the band’s significant input to the Back to the Future soundtrack with songs like ‘The Power of Love’ and ‘Back in Time’.
Stay tuned for further details on the new record, scheduled for release via BMG.
