However, to pigeon-hole this as just an EP would be wrong, as four of the five songs on the release are accompanied by video clips which are all intertwined. The result is an audio-visual experience to savour, and a glimpse into the mind of one of Britain’s finest young talents.
The project is a bold statement cementing who FKA twigs is as an artist, and it conceptualises the process of ‘feeling pregnant with pain, birthing creativity and liberation’.
The recording of the EP was quick, with the bulk of the work done within a few days. New collaborator BOOTS pushed Barnett to explore new territory and become more ambitious than ever.
The result is a worthy follow-up to Barnett’s previous releases, EP1, EP2 and LP1, and shapes to further increase the profile of the rising star.
