The band, made up of singer/guitarist Elena Tonra, guitarist/producer Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguiella, matures on the second record, and Not To Disappear is arguably more compelling than the 2013 debut If You Leave, which was widely appreciated.
The album was recorded in New York with Nicolas Verhes, who has worked with the likes of The War On Drugs and Animal Collective, at his studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Tired of the old approach to music videos, Daughter worked with filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (directors of the Nick Cave film 20,000 Days on Earth) to produce three films for the album. Author Stuart Evers wrote three short stories based on songs from the album and Forsyth and Pollard’s videos were interpretations of these.
