Alex Lahey surprise releases quarantine EP

Produced by Lahey herself while bunkering down in isolation, Between The Kitchen And The Living Room features reimaginations of tracks like ‘Everyday’s The Weekend’ and ‘Wes Anderson’, with each track being recorded in her bedroom, attic, laundry, bathroom and hallway.

Lahey, who was meant to be on tour in the US when the pandemic sent things balls up, discussed the inspiration behind the project in a statement shared today, describing how she recorded the EP in her mum’s house.

“In light of having to cancel my US tour, which is supposed to be underway this very moment, I decided to bring these songs home and let them find new parts of themselves,” Lahey said.

“I engineered and produced all of these recordings within a week in a small room in my mother’s house – which is where I have been living since I didn’t continue renting in anticipation of touring for most of the year.”
