A new documentary about Sly Stone is in the works

The documentary will be the first about Stone’s life that the artist himself has participated in, and is set to feature interviews, archival footage, and a soundtrack of songs from Stone’s extensive catalogue. The film will document Stone’s career from his work with Sly and the Family Stone during the sixties and seventies through to his subsequent solo career.

Stone’s story developed from early success to becoming a present-day recluse, where his public appearances have been sporadic. He joined the Family Stone onstage for their 1993 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, and also made an appearance for an all-star tribute performance at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Stone also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, reflecting the significant influence his work continues to have on musicians.

With the title and release date not yet known, you’ll need to stay tuned for more details on the documentary.
