Released earlier this year, the Mapex Swift is a belt drive bass drum pedal developed by the Mapex Design Lab that aims to deliver fast, nuanced response.

The standout feature is the Quick-Set Spring Tensioner, which is positioned on the upper part of the pedal structure rather than down near the base. This placement means drummers can fine-tune the feel of the pedal from the seated position without having to stop and reach down mid-setup. Paired with an independently adjustable beater hub and an easy-to-reach hoop clamp, the Swift gives drummers a level of on-the-spot control that most pedals in this category don’t offer.
The overall design balances retro belt drive aesthetics with the reliability and convenience modern players expect (and need). Developed by the Mapex Design Lab – Mapex’s collective of engineers and artists – the Swift is the product of a considered design process, and it shows in the details.
