The list contains established acts such as Sia, Missy Higgins, and Daniel Johns, who have all previously won the Song of the Year, while acts such as Tash Sultana, D.D Dumbo, Julia Jacklin and A.B. Original make their appearance.
The list not only showcases some of the year’s most buzz-worthy bands but also some of the country’s established veterans, such as Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Gareth Liddiard and Archie Roach.
From this shortlist one winner will be selected by newly formed panel, comprised of previous nominees stretching from the competition’s 25 year history. Some of the judges are Chris Cheney, Katie Noonan, Isabella Manfredi, Mike Noga, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sally Seltmann, and Paul Mac.
The winner wil then be announced at the 2017 APRA Music Awards on Monday April 3, which will be held at the International Convention Centre Ballroom in Sydney.
APRA were also kind enough to put together this playlist featuring all 20 of the shortlisted artists, which you can stream below.
