A free firmware update lets Prime, Core and Flex Prime load Neural Amp Modeler captures natively and browse TONE3000 through HeadRush Cloud.
HeadRush has opened the doors to its Prime, Core and Flex Prime pedals to the wider world of community-made guitar tone, with a free firmware update that adds native Neural Amp Modeler support and direct access to the TONE3000 library – no computer or file conversion in sight.

Neural Amp Modeler, or NAM, is the open-source capture format that’s taken off among players and sound designers, and TONE3000 is the platform where those captures are shared – hundreds of thousands of them, covering iconic amps, boutique pedals, rare signal chains and full studio rigs. Until now, getting a NAM capture onto a HeadRush rig meant a converter, a workaround or a laptop.
With the update, Prime, Core and Flex Prime players can search, preview, download and play NAM captures straight from TONE3000 through HeadRush Cloud and the onboard touchscreen. The captures load natively, with no conversion and no drop in quality. “Less than two months after TONE3000 launched NAM A2, HeadRush’s entire multi-effects lineup has become the first to let you browse the full TONE3000 library directly from the device’s screen,” says Stanley Vergilis, co-founder and CEO of TONE3000.
For NAM’s creator, having it built into a major pedal line is a nod to the open-source model. “I’m very proud of the level of quality that NAM offers,” says Steve Atkinson. “Seeing HeadRush affirm this by bringing it to their product line is a win for open-source technology in the music industry and, ultimately, the artists that industry serves.”
The update is free and out now, rolling to existing Prime, Core and Flex Prime owners over Wi-Fi. For anyone already running one of the pedals, it turns the touchscreen into a way into a constantly growing pool of community tone, without ever reaching for a computer.
