The Polara Kim Thayil has a set neck with a mahogany body, bound rosewood fingerboard and Guild’s iconic large 70’s headstock. It’s powered by HB-1 humbuckers and a phase switch, and kept in tune with a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Guild compensated stopbar tailpiece.
The Masterbuilt USA models, limited to 30 worldwide, feature aged old-growth Honduran Mahogany body and neck and a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard with Mother of Pearl block inlays, again complimented by the Guild’s 70’s era enlarged headstock. Pickups are custom Guild USA HB-1 Humbuckers hand wound by master pickup maker Jason Lollar, while Grover Original Rotomatics® tuners and a reproduction Guild/Mueller style bridge and compensated stopbar tailpiece complete this beast!
Of the collaboration, Guild President, Jonathan Thomas said:
“We’ve been talking about doing this together for many years and are excited to finally bring these guitars to life… it’s hard to look at a Polara and not think of Kim, his influence in music, and long connection to his Guilds.”
