Five iconic models get the vintage treatment with lightly aged finishes and hardware that simulate decades of play.

Want the aged look without the actual… age? Gibson has your back. Their new Murphy Lab Light Aged Acoustic Collection brings that coveted vintage look to five iconic acoustic models. The collection spans nearly a century of Gibson history, each model treated with Gibson’s Murphy Lab aging process that mimics years of natural wear.

Read up on all the latest news here.

The lineup

Gibson 1955 J-45 Light Aged, Vintage Sunburst – This workhorse gets the vintage treatment. This 1955 spec includes the longer fretboard with 20th fret that Gibson introduced that year, plus the larger 50s-style pickguard that replaced the earlier teardrop design.

Gibson 1963 Dove Light Aged, Dark Natural – One of Gibson’s most recognisable square-shoulder acoustics, famously played by Tom Petty, Elvis, and Alex Lifeson. The Dove’s been turning heads since 1962.

Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Light Aged, Dark Natural – The “King of the Flat-Tops” in all its commanding glory. This jumbo has been the go-to since 1937.

Gibson Pre-War SJ-200 Rosewood Light Aged, Faded Vintage Sunburst – The rare pick of the collection. Gibson only used rosewood for the back and sides until 1947, making these pre-war models highly sought after by collectors today.

Gibson 1929 Nick Lucas Special Light Aged, Argentine Grey – Gibson’s first artist signature model, designed for “The Crooning Troubadour” himself. Lucas requested a deeper body for better bass response, giving this small-bodied guitar a surprisingly full voice.

What makes it special

Each of these guitars has lightly aged hardware and finishes that replicate the natural wear patterns you’d find on well-loved vintage instruments. A vintage-style hardshell case comes with every model.

The aging process captures that unique character and feel that only comes from decades of playing and what vintage guitar collectors pay serious money for on the used market. Now you can get that straight from Gibson Custom without hunting down increasingly rare (and increasingly pricey) originals.

For players who want vintage without the vintage price tag or reliability concerns, the Murphy Lab collection delivers authentic Golden Era tone with modern build quality.
