The Meteora model is relatively new, releasing in 2018 on a limited run, but now joins Fender classics such as the Telecaster and Stratocaster in the Player Plus lineup.
The Meteora boasts a Modern “C” neck with rolled edges, medium jumbo frets on a 12” radius fretboard with modern nut width. However, the highlights of the guitar, outside of its stunning design, are in its sound features.
Player Plus Meteoras include a brand-exclusive ‘Fireball’ humbucking pickup for a strong tone and reduced hum, along with advanced switching options, high performance bridges and locking tuners (on Meteora HH only). The design also shows off an active bass preamp, providing ample tonal choice.
The Meteora shape is a real call to the ’80s, with gradient burst finishes on space age colours. Colourways include Belaire Blue, 3-Colour Sunburst, Cosmic Jade, Silverburst, Tequila Sunrise, and Opal Spark.
For Fender, this player-centric release represents “a legacy undefined”. While older models have been co-opted by legendary artists, the Meteora presents an opportunity for a new generation of players to make it their own.
