Both stompboxes are kitted out in an all-black finish.
This year marks the respective 30th and 40th anniversaries of the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone and SD-1 Super Overdrive stompboxes, and to celebrate, the brand are reissuing both pedals in a special limited edition enclosure.

Initially released in 1981, the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive was a classic stompbox of the early ’80s, with just about everyone who wasn’t using a TubeScreamer owning one to tap into juicy overdriven tones.
Likewise, the MT-2 Metal Zone, which debuted in 1991, is a bona fide Boss classic, even if it is one of the brand’s most controversial pedals. Its snarling tone and high amounts of gain made it a mainstay during metal’s heyday in the mainstream in the ’90s, and it’s one of the best-selling Boss stompboxes of all time for that very reason.
Each of the limited edition pedals will be released in an all-black finish for a limited 12 month window starting this June.
In addition to featuring blacked-out enclosures, the MT-2-3A and SD-1-4A will feature a vintage silver thumbscrew on their battery compartments, and are also set to be bundled in commemorative boxes with special anniversary logos.
