Show & Tell: James Monteith from TesseracT

What piece of equipment do you have to show us today?

The Oypla powered cool box. When on the road, it’s very hard to keep your beer cold, and this neat and inexpensive box does just that.

Simply run it off the 12V plug socket, and you have 24L of capacity, in which an entire case of beer will fit. Never again will I have to endure an eight hour drive in a van with warm beer. It’s an absolutely vital piece of kit for any beer-loving touring musician.

How did you come across this particular item?

I was in the back of the van, unhappy with my warm beer, so I Googled portable fridges. This then came up as a much cheaper option.

What is it that you like about it so much?

Cold beer.

How do you use it and how has it shaped the way you write music?

I usually buy chilled beer or chill it myself first, as it’s better at maintaining a cold temp rather than having to do the cooling. I usually then put it on the shelf at the back or on a seat if there’s a spare one. I then lift the lid, take out a cold beer, put the lid back on, and then sit back and enjoy a cold brew. It makes me happy which helps the creative process.

Tell us a little about what you have coming up?

We’re touring Australia with our buddies in Circles in September, come out!

Sonder is out now via Kscope. TesseracT are touring Australia in September thanks to Live Nation.
