Show & Tell: Eliza & The Delusionals

Hey Eliza! What piece of equipment do you have to show us today?

My Rainbow Machine pedal by Earthquaker Devices!

How did you come across this particular item?

I actually watched a Rig Rundown that Earthquaker Devices did with Taylor York (Paramore) and he was talking through his live setup and was talking about how much he loved the pedal. I didn’t even really understand what it did, but at the time I was looking for something new and interesting to add to my pedalboard. So I ended up buying one a few days later.

What is it that you like about it so much?

To be honest, I couldn’t really tell you what it does fully – I just love the sounds that come out of it. I could just sit there for ages adjusting things slightly and it just sounds so weird and cool. I’m not super technical when it comes to gear and pedals, but I really like things that sound cool and interesting.

How do you use it and how has it shaped the way you write music?

I don’t use pedals a lot when I’m writing music, but it was used a lot in the studio. It was a really cool to use on some of the lead and rhythm guitar parts – I think you can make a really cool signature guitar sound with it.

Tell us a little about what you have coming up?

Our new EP A State of Living in an Objective Reality is out now! And we’ll be picking up our US touring hopefully at the end of the year, when the craziness in the world settles down.
