On Tour with: Sam Perry

I travel as light as possible. My live setup consists of mainly Boss Roland gear.

Boss RC-505 Loop Station

This is the heart of my setup. It’s the latest and best loop station available today.

Boss GT-10b Effect Processor

An effect pedal built for bass guitars. I spend lots of time designing sounds and save them as individual patches so I can select them on the spot and loop them live with the RC505. The only difference for me is I plug a microphone into the GT instead of a bass guitar and build all the sounds with my voice.

Shure SM58 Microphone

I’m currently using a Shure SM58 microphone, but I’m always changing mics. It’s a trial and error thing to see what works best with my voice and sounds. The 58 has a nice top end and is super versatile.

Sennheiser HD25 Headphones

I’ve always used Sennheiser’s HD25 headphones. They’re my favourite headphones, no question. I’ve been slowing getting used to in-ear monitors and I’m thinking about making the jump across, but the bass is just not as powerful with the smaller drivers. I’ve been testing some in-ears from Audiofly and I’ve found them to be the best for my live sound.

Accessories

Apart from that, I have a pitchblack tuner and an SYB bass stompbox for the harder hitting bass sounds, and a custom hard case for it all to live in … and I always forget my toothbrush.
