What piece of equipment do you have to show us today?
My Fender American Performer Stratocaster.
How did you come across this particular item?
Initially I wanted a Mexican Fender Strat, but after our produce Kris Crummett advised that a USA would be a better touring guitar I started the hunt, I had a good vision for what colour I wanted & I love maple fretboards, so as soon as this one popped up I got it!
What is it that you like about it so much?
It’s so versatile, most people don’t see a strat as being the typical metal guitar but I think it’s perfect. Even with the stock single coils I love it for heavy stuff.
It has featured on numerous records since I’ve owned it, from pop to metal. everyone I’ve had play it loves it.
How do you use it and how has it shaped the way you write music?
I play it in A# with heavy strings, Ernie Ball 72-13s. I use it for all of Ocean Sleeper’s live shows, all of our demos & a bunch of tracks I produce for other artists.
It has definitely helped me get that tone I was always searching for, the clean is to die for.
Tell us a little about what you have coming up.
We have our debut album dropping on Friday November 8, so thats wild! Then we have our album tour later that month, hitting Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane. We’re all very excited for the next few months!
