Drumagog 6 measures the drum on the track and ranks every GOG in the library by how close it sounds to it.
WaveMachine Labs has released Drumagog 6, a new version of its drum replacement plug-in for macOS and Windows. It’s the biggest update Drumagog has had in more than twenty years of replacing drums. Everything was rebuilt from the ground up to make drum replacement faster and more accurate, from finding the hits to choosing the sound. Drumagog 6 runs as VST3, Audio Unit and AAX, with ARA 2 in the DAWs that support it. It also comes as a standalone app.

A whole kit from one track
With Drumagog 6 Platinum, a single copy of Drumagog on the drum bus can replace the entire kit. Kit mode picks out the kick, snare, hi-hat, toms, ride and crash inside a stereo drum track and triggers a new sound for each one. Every drum gets its own sound and its own channel strip. In DAWs that support it, each drum can also go to a separate output for mixing. For engineers working from a stereo drum mix, an overhead pair or a room mic, that means a complete replacement kit without close mics.
Every hit where you can see it
A ghost note can hide under the ring of the stroke before it. And a snare mic usually picks up plenty of kick. Those are the spots where drum replacement tends to fall apart. With Drumagog 6 there’s no more guessing about what will trigger, because every hit it finds appears on the waveform, ready for tweaking.
And there’s also a powerful new tool – Drumagog now lets you click on a detected trigger and tell it to remove all other drum hits that sound similar to it. Or to only keep hits that sound like it and delete the rest. With REMOVE SIMILAR and KEEP SIMILAR, a whole run of false triggers, like kick bleeding into the snare mic, disappears in a single click.
A library that sorts itself
Drumagog 6 measures the drum on the track and ranks every GOG in the library by how close it sounds to it. The whole library also appears as a similarity map, where sounds that are alike sit close together. Finding a snare that matches the original now takes seconds. Every GOG from Drumagog 3, 4 and 5 plays as it is, and engineers can turn a folder of their own samples into a new GOG that sorts itself from soft to loud.
