Gretsch brings black limba, the tonewood better known as korina, to two limited-edition Electromatics in Sunburst: the bolt-on CVT and the chambered, set-neck Jet.
Gretsch has brought black limba to its more affordable Electromatic line, with two limited-edition models in Sunburst: the Black Limba CVT and the Black Limba Jet. Prized for its smooth, rich midrange with plenty of presence and clarity, both guitars use Black Limba for the the body and neck, as well as share Gretsch’s fast Performance “C” neck, a GraphTech NuBone nut, 22 medium-jumbo frets on a 12-inch radius, and gold hardware throughout.

Black Limba CVT
The CVT is the more straightforward of the two, built around a solid black limba body with beveled contours, a bolt-on neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard on a 24.6-inch scale. Two Twin Six humbuckers, each with Alnico 5 magnets and 12 adjustable pole pieces, feed a master volume and tone with a treble-bleed circuit, while an adjustable wraparound bridge anchors the strings.
Black Limba Jet
The Jet steps it up, with a chambered black limba body, a carved black limba top, a set neck rather than a bolt-on. It also features a slightly longer 24.88-inch scale under a bound ebony fingerboard, giving it a firmer, brighter attack. PureVolt Twin Six humbuckers mix magnet types, with Alnico 4 at the neck and Alnico 5 at the bridge. There’s a tone control for each pickup, and push-pull pots split either humbucker to single-coil, turning hum-cancelling together in the middle position. A Lockdown locking wraparound bridge holds tuning steady through string changes.
Between them, the CVT covers fast, no-fuss playing and the Jet more tonally flexible – both stunning in Sunburst.
