Rhodes has partnered with UJAM to give its community UFX LOFI for free, a plugin that adds tape hiss, vinyl crackle and old sampler grit to clean recordings. The offer runs until 19 July, so there are only a few days left to grab it.

UFX LOFI takes clean recordings and gives them an old record, worn tape feel. The lighter effects bring tape saturation, vinyl crackle and a bit of wow and flutter – usually enough for some vintage warmth on its own. Bitcrushing, stutter and glitch head into more sound design territory.
Producers making lo-fi beats, hip hop, neo soul and R&B are the main audience, though the plugin suits anything that sounds better a bit worn than squeaky clean. Keyboard players get a quick way to scuff up a Rhodes part, and it handles a full beat just as happily. For anyone already playing a Rhodes, it slots in as an easy companion for the dusty tone those genres are built on.
