It’s a big day for mic nerds.
HARMAN Professional Solutions has announced the launch of the new AKG C-Series professional condenser microphones, marking the brand’s first new studio microphones in eight years. The series comprises three models—the C104, C114, and C151—all designed specifically for musicians, podcasters, YouTubers, and streamers who demand professional sound quality.

Drawing on decades of acoustic innovation, the C-Series brings AKG’s signature detail and clarity to vocals, speech, instruments, and ambient sound. Each mic features a precision-engineered, transformerless FET circuit that delivers whisper-quiet operation and impressive dynamic range. The broad frequency response preserves the full character of whatever you’re recording.
C114: an affordable entry to the C414 legacy
The standout here is the C114: a game-changer for DIY engineers and home studios that offers an accessible way into AKG’s famed C414 family. This multi-pattern condenser features an edge-terminated capsule, true condenser topography, sweet top-end, and excellent off-axis response.
With a 145dB maximum SPL, the C114 doesn’t need a pad, which simplifies tracking loud sources. Precision manufacturing means any two units will function as a matched pair—there’s no need to buy specifically matched sets for stereo work. It brings professional-level performance to an accessible price point.

C151: the pencil condenser, reimagined
The C151 small diaphragm condenser draws from the legacy of AKG’s highly regarded C451B, which has been a go-to pencil condenser for over 50 years. These mics excel in stereo recording, particularly as drum overheads—but the C151 also handles acoustic guitar, percussion, and foley work with ease. Like the C114, any two C151 units work as a stereo pair without special matching, which is particularly handy when you’re building your mic collection over time.

C104: for modern creators

The C104 is a large diaphragm cardioid condenser built for musicians, podcasters, YouTubers, and streamers who need professional sound quality. Whether you’re recording vocals, instruments, or ambient environments, it captures every detail with clarity and precision. The mic’s cardioid capsule and transformerless FET circuit deliver clean, quiet recordings with impressive dynamic range across a broad frequency spectrum. It’s designed to drop seamlessly into modern recording setups with straightforward operation and a clean, contemporary look that works well on camera.
Design and sustainability
The C-Series sports a sleek, modern aesthetic that nods to AKG’s iconic design heritage. These microphones look as good on camera as they sound during playback, with an intuitive design that integrates effortlessly into modern recording setups.
Sustainability is built into every aspect of the C-Series. All microphone bodies are crafted from 100% recycled PIR metal, and everything from packaging to accessories has been thoughtfully engineered for minimal environmental impact. The packaging is fully recyclable.
“When we set out to create the new AKG C-Series microphones, our goal was simple: let’s design a mic that creators would reach for every day—not just because it sounds incredible, but because it makes the process easier, smoother, and more inspiring,” said Philip Feinman, Product Manager, Recording and Broadcast at HARMAN Professional Solutions. “We listened closely to what musicians and content creators truly need, and we’re proud to deliver a microphone lineup that becomes a natural extension of the creative process.”
To celebrate the global launch, some of Australia’s top musicians, producers, and sound designers, including Rohan Rebeiro, Michael Paynter, and Dave Jenkins Jnr, will put the C-Series to the test in a series of exclusive content, showcasing what the microphones can really do.
The three models give you flexible options through cardioid and multi-pattern designs. Whether you’re upgrading your setup or starting fresh, the C-Series aims to deliver professional audio capture at an accessible price.
