Only 5,000 pairs exist worldwide, with just 400 units distributed to Australia. The headphones will be sold exclusively through JB Hi-Fi from 3 November.
For the first time, Audio-Technica has added custom engraving to both the earcups and headband. The design reflects sound waves and brushstrokes found in Japanese depictions of the Enso circle – a symbol representing life’s cyclical nature. After years of releasing the M50x in various colours, this edition marks a return to the sophisticated black finish of the original.

The core performance remains unchanged. These headphones feature 45mm large-aperture drivers with copper-clad aluminium wire voice coils, delivering studio-quality sound with exceptional clarity across an extended frequency range and accurate bass response. The over-ear design includes plush sound isolation pads, with earcups that swivel 90° for one-ear monitoring and fold flat for portability.
Each pair carries a unique serial number, confirming its place among the 5,000 worldwide. In the box you’ll get a protective carrying pouch, a 6.3mm screw-on adaptor, and three detachable cables: a 1.2m-3.0m coiled cable, 3.0m straight cable, and 1.2m straight cable. As a bonus, 500 randomly selected boxes contain a postcard unlocking an exclusive ENSO accessories kit, complete with a headphone stand and carry case.
The ATH-M50x ENSO represents a collector’s piece for those who appreciate both Audio-Technica’s legacy and thoughtful design details rooted in Japanese artistry.
