150 years of Epiphone sees the company paying homage to some of its most famous body shapes.
Honouring the company, the Epiphone 150th Anniversary is here. 2023 sees 150 years of Epiphone. It started in 1873 when a musical instrument manufacturing business was founded in the Ottoman Empire by Anastasios Stathopoulos, before he moved to New York City in 1908. His son, Epaminondas Stathopoulos, took over the business and renamed it Epiphone (a combination of his nickname ‘Epi’ and ‘phone’ from the Greek phon-, “voice”) in 1928, and they began manufacturing guitars.

Almost half a century later, The Beatles would use Epiphone Casinos who went on to inspire the likes of Oasis and The Strokes who also played Casinos and Rivieras.
150 years of Epiphone sees the company paying homage to some of its most famous body shapes with the Epiphone 150th Anniversary range: the Zephyr Deluxe, Crestwood Custom, the Sheraton and a Wiltshire. The Crestwood Custom and Wiltshire are solid body electrics, while the Zephyr is a more traditional, hollow body jazz box. The Sheraton is a semi-hollow design with a centre block running up its middle.
The Crestwood Custom and Wiltshire share specs in that they both feature made-in-the USA Gibson Mini Humbuckers, and both having the famous “Batwing” style headstock. The Crestwood Custom is available in California Coral while the Wiltshire is a peaceful, Pacific Blue. The Zephyr has a beautiful Aged Antique Natural finish, and the Sheraton’s 60s look is completed by the 60s Cherry finish, complimented by the gold LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge, and a Tremotone vibrato tailpiece.
