Basing tone from vintage projectors isn’t as strange as you think. For decades now, guitarists in search of pure tone have been taking the tube-powered audio sections of vintage film projectors and using it as a guitar amp.
Offering an all-dynamic response and a separate cut and boost for controlling treble and bass tones, the newest addition to Walrus Audio’s catalogue brings together a classic sounding pedal, which emulates a tone hungry method for valve-powered audio sections of a projector, crammed into a plethora of tones and versatility.
This crazy pedal is fitted with an internal circuitry ups, allowing more spatial recognition for a 9V to 18V input. It also packs a dual 6v6 output section and has separate control knobs allowing a landscape of tone that Walrus Audio intended to capture in just one stompbox.
The 385 Overdrive is yet another forward-thinking product from Walrus Audio. There’s no word yet on when we might be able to get our hands on it Australia, but keep an eye out, as pre-orders are already available on the Walrus Audio website.
