A brand new Martin acoustic guitar, which is an homage to the late musical icon John Lennon of the Beatles, is set to be released, and it's only limited out of 75!
The guitar, which heavily draws inspiration from the D-28 Dreadnought models that the pop-rock superstar used at the latter end of his career, features Lennon’s infamous cartoon self-portrait. To pay further respect to the widely adored musician, the guitar incorporates a peace sign inlaid on the back of the body – Lennon is also known as a prominent political activist who was, most famously, avidly against America’s involvement in the Vietnam War.
A solid Adirondack spruce top with Vintage Tone System is combined with Madagascar rosewood back and sides for a strong and powerful bass resonance – the back being inlaid with HD-28 style zig-zag peace sign marquetry. The guitar also features small peace signs, a moon and Lennon’s trademark granny glasses depicted in mother-of-pearl. The guitar will put you back roughly $15,900 AUD. Check out some photos here.
Martin Guitars are distributed nationally via Electric Factory.
