Jordan Rudess and John Petrucci Give A Dream Theater Update

Keyboard recording for new Dream Theater album complete

Dream Theater have confirmed Jordan Rudess has finished recording all keyboard parts for their 14th studio album, via a video update on social media.

Keyboardist Jordan Rudess and guitarist John Petrucci discuss the as of yet untitled follow-up to 2016's The Astonishing and share brief clips of Rudess's playing in the new video posted to the band's Facebook page.

"This is going to be such an amazing record. It’s got so much energy and I’m very happy with all the keyboard parts. Listening back, all you can do is smile," Rudess says in the video.

"[Rudess] got a new organ, so there's a lot of cool heavy organ playing," Petrucci adds.

Frontman James Labrie said in June he is confident of a renewed band cohesion as Dream Theater are "all interacting with one another and, I gotta tell you, if the first week is any indication of where this album’s going, you’re in for a treat".

Dream Theater began recording the album back in June after signing a new record deal with Sony Music/InsideOut. More details about the new record are promised to come soon.
