Leader of Down originally formed in 2008 as a Motörhead-Fastway supergroup, featuring Michael ‘Würzel’ Burston and bassist Tim Atkinson along with former Fastway drummer Steve Clark, and wrote ‘Paradise Turned To Dust’ for Lemmy to sing, which he did in the months preceding his death in 2015. An endearingly homemmade music video has also been released, featuring pictures taken of Lemmy with the band recording in the studio. Lemmy also sang on ‘Laugh At The Devil’ which will be released on Cascade into Chaos later this month.
For obvious reasons, the lineup of Leader of Down has altered significantly, now consisting of Atkinson, vocalist Matt Baker and guitarist Alex Ward plus a star-studded throng of guest musicians including Phil Campbell, ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke, Lee Richards, Bruce Foxton and Cliff Evans. “It’s a very bittersweet feeling now that the album is being released. It feels very strange without Würzel being here, and I know he would be thrilled with the final result,” Atkinson said in a press release.
Leader of Down’s Cascade Into Chaos arrives September 28 via Cleopatra Records.
