White has released the fractured trailer for the new film, seen below, shot and directed by Emmet Malroy, who had previously worked with White on The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights (2009). The accompanying E.P release Jack White: Kneeling at the Anthem D.C. EP features 6 cuts from the film including a rendition White Stripes classic ‘Icky Thump’.
Critics were polarised upon the release of White’s third solo album in March this year with Pitchfork labelling the record as “ridiculous” whilst The Boston Globe praised his experimentation as “ambitious, dizzying, and sometimes challenging”. Either way, the bizarro funk-rap, blues inflections of Boarding House Reach will certainly make for an interesting live-doco as Malroy shows how crowds react to the new material.
Jack White: Kneeling at the Anthem D.C and it’s accompanying E.P is set for release on September 21st via Amazon Prime.
