ROYALTIES ADMINISTRATOR – Sony Music (Sydney)

 

At Sony Music Australia the royalty department is responsible for the calculation and reporting of intercompany royalties and direct royalties to local artists for Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. The royalty administrator will be required to assist in all areas of the department’s function.

 

Skills/Responsibilities Required:

  • Natural predisposition to numeracy
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to complete projects on time/work to deadlines
  • Quick to learn and use of initiative
  • Communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or other numeracy focused qualifications
  • No previous experience in copyright / royalties is necessary

 

Tasks Include:

  • Enter artist, producer, mixer, override and licensee contract information into the royalty processing system
  • Link and activate new repertoire
  • Resolve artist queries and/or calculation errors
  • Liquidate, compile and distribute royalty statements
  • Maintain statement portal database
  • Code incoming invoices
  • Process joint venture sales
  • Assist with processing of sync, PPCA and other revenue
  • Maintain Agreement archive and filing
  • Produce ad hoc management reports and data analysis
  • Carry out financial adjustment journals

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER – Sony Music (Sydney)

 

Sony Music Australia are also on the hunt for a brand new Communications Manager to join the team and help formulate publicity plans for a mix of local and international artists.

 

Skills/Responsibilities Required:

  • Public Relations / Journalism / Marketing degree and practical experience
  • Have an understanding of data and insights and an ability to apply these when building PR campaigns
  • High level of computer literacy –proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and basic accounting software knowledge
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a manner that is consistent with Sony Music’s culture and values, across all levels
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, sensitive to relationships and situations

Tasks Include:

 

  • Construct and manage a strategic communications plan for an assigned roster of Australian, International and Commercial Music Group artists across all media, DSPs and creative content creation;
  • Work with artists, managers and label partners to set media schedules for interviews and other media appearances
  • Build strong relationships with digital partner’s PR teams
  • Work closely with the digital team on PR strategies around go to-market artist campaigns and partnerships
  • Manage all servicing of album releases to media accurately and on time
  • Act as an artist liaison for all on ground media activities
  • Be involved in the strategy, ideation and execution of creative ideas to maximise artist development and exposure
  • Maintain communications with artist management and overseas labels on a regular basis regarding schedules and artist developments
  • Liaise with all stakeholders in managing the promotion of assigned artists on tour and new releases
  • Work with international affiliates on securing promotional windows in Australia for inbound international artists;
  • Liaise with the promotions, marketing, content creation, A&R and artist management divisions (where required) when strategising, planning and executing artist activity;
  • Plan and event manage award presentations, meet & greets and company/artist functions
