Yamaha celebrate 30 years of the Pacifica with new 612 HSS guitars

Words by Will Brewster

Celebrating thirty years in style.

Yamaha have unveiled two new entries to its longstanding Pacifica range, adding some swanky new electronics, hardware and finishes to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series.

Representing the pinnacle of the Pacifica range, the new 612VIIFMX and 612VIIX guitars boast a traditional Super Strat style build, combining alder bodies with bolt-on maple necks and rosewoods fretboards. Both guitars also boast a HSS pickup configuration: a coil-splitable Seymour DuncanTB-14 Custom 5 humbucker occupies the bridge position, while SSL-1 single-coils sit pretty in the neck and middle to tap into a myriad of tones.

Both guitars also feature Grover locking tuners, Wilkinson VS50 bridges and GraphTech TUSQ nuts for optimum tuning stability and overall playability, with a whammy bar topping things off to let you live out your shredding fantasies.

The new Pacifica models are also available in a cool range of finishes: the 612VIIFMX is paired with a flame-maple veneer top and Fire Red finish, while the 612VIIX comes in Matte Silk Blue, Teal Green Metallic and Yellow Natural Satin.
