Win a Todd Rundgren Signed Vintage Minimoog

Minimoog
Words by Anita Agathangelou

The prized Minimoog carries the signature of an artist who helped define how synthesizers shape modern music.

The Bob Moog Foundation is offering music fans a chance to own a piece of synthesizer history with their latest fundraising raffle. The prize is a vintage Minimoog Model D synthesizer signed and inscribed “Moog = Synthesizer” by legendary musician and producer Todd Rundgren.

Rundgren’s connection to Moog synthesizers runs deep, dating back to the mid-1970s when he and keyboardist Roger Powell used a Moog System 55 modular synthesizer to create groundbreaking sounds with the band Utopia and on Rundgren’s solo recordings.

A Legend Among Synthesizers

Since hitting the market in 1970, the Minimoog has been the gold standard for analog synthesizers. Its accessible design brought the power of Moog’s larger modular systems into a more compact, user-friendly package. The result was an instrument that became essential to countless classic recordings and remains highly sought after by musicians and collectors today.

Supporting Music Education

All proceeds from the raffle go toward the Bob Moog Foundation’s educational initiatives. The flagship program, Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, has already reached over 35,000 elementary school students, teaching them about the science of sound through hands-on learning experiences.

The funds also support the Bob Moog Foundation Archives and the Moogseum in Asheville, North Carolina. This interactive museum has welcomed over 45,000 visitors since opening in May 2019, offering people of all ages the chance to explore Bob Moog’s pioneering work in electronic music. The museum is still recovering from financial impacts caused by Hurricane Helene, making this fundraiser particularly important.

The raffle runs from September 8th at 7:00 am EST to September 29th 11:59 pm EST and is open internationally.
