Watch the trailer for "Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision" by The Jimi Hendrix .

Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios is the stuff of legend. Born in the late 60s, the studio remains a world-class facility and home to people like Tom Elmhirst, Jack Antonoff and Mark Ronson at times. The studio has been associated with albums and recordings by Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Hall & Oates, the Rolling Stones, Blondie, Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley, Patti Smith and more, and continues to uphold the legacy of Hendrix himself and all the records recorded.

Built from the bones of a defunct nightclub where artists like B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Dave Van Ronk and Sly & the Family Stone performed, the building was already steeped in history.

Designed by no famous studio designer and architect John Storyk, along with Eddie Kramer, Electric Lady Studios is a Mecca for rock, pop, alternative and psychedelic artists. So it makes sense then, for there to be a documentary in the works exploring Hendrix’s vision.

The documentary explores the vision, design, construction, funding and eventual success of one of the world’s most famous recording studios. Hendrix lived to see the studio opening at an official Opening Party on August 26, 1970, Hendrix tragically dying just weeks later.
