The Portuguese audio tech company has launched a dual-waveform waveshaping plugin with over 65 curves, LFO modulation and multichannel support for music and post-production professionals.
Distortion plugins tend to fall into two camps: ones that sound great but offer limited control, and ones that offer deep control but aren’t very intuitive or easy to operate. Sound Particles’ new inShaper aims to split the difference, offering creative waveshaping with enough depth for sound design, while staying approachable enough for everyday production use.

The Portugal-based company, whose tools have appeared in productions including Oppenheimer, Dune, Stranger Things and Star Wars, has built inShaper around a dual-waveform engine that lets users work with either a single shaping curve for controlled distortion or blend two curves simultaneously for richer harmonics and more complex textures. Over 65 curves cover the full spectrum from subtle warmth through to aggressive wave folding, giving producers and engineers a wide palette to draw from.
What separates inShaper from a straightforward distortion plugin is the modifier mix modulation. Blending between two curves in real time enables smooth morphing and constantly evolving results – useful for both music production and post-production contexts where static distortion textures can start to feel flat over time.
An integrated LFO system adds another layer of movement, allowing modulation of key parameters including drive, gain, bias and modifier mix. Multiple waveforms, DAW sync and channel offset options make inShaper particularly effective for rhythmic distortion effects. The channel offset feature is worth highlighting – applying different LFO offsets to individual speakers creates spatial effects that work especially well in surround and immersive audio formats.
Speaking of formats, multichannel support covers mono, stereo, surround and immersive configurations, making inShaper a practical tool for post-production engineers working beyond the standard stereo field.
The drive-linked-to-gain feature is a thoughtful and practical touch. Adding drive character without managing output levels separately keeps sessions moving and avoids the constant level-matching that can interrupt the creative process.
Sound Particles has built a reputation on tools trusted by top musicians, AAA game studios and Hollywood productions alike, and inShaper continues that by bringing the same professional-grade approach to a plugin accessible for independent producers.
