SSL Live console chosen for its unmatched sound quality, flexible workflow and powerful onboard processing capabilities.
Sala Salamandra has become an essential stop for alternative rock, hybrid and metal bands touring Spain ever since the 800-capacity venue opened in L’Hospitalet del Llobregat, in metropolitan Barcelona, in 1996. Now, the popular club’s technical staff and visiting front-of-house engineers are mixing on an installed Solid State Logic Live L200 Plus console supplied by Zentralmedia, distribution partner for Solid State Logic in Spain and Portugal.

“SSL is one of the main brands in the sector and having this console gives us prestige,” says Oleguer Batallé , Salamandra’s technical manager for sound. “They also have great after-sales service, which is very important to us.” The venue’s previous FOH console was no longer being supported, he says. “We tried a few consoles that were around the same price and the SSL L200 was the best. As for features, we really like that it has 38 faders, user keys and a touch screen, and that it supports up to six layers with five banks on each of the three 12-fader Tiles.”
The open architecture of the Solid State Logic Live mixing console offers many possibilities, Oleguer Batallé explains. “You can decide in your own way the order of the audio chain in each path. You can send stems to auxiliaries or to other stems. You can chain different plug-ins into a single insert and listen to the solo signals at the point in the chain that you want. You can do almost anything you can think of in terms of the way that you want to work.”
