Pro Tools users, your patience has paid off. Serato has finally released AAX Native support for its Sample and Hex FX plugins, completing the format trilogy alongside VST and AU.
Serato’s update eliminates a long-standing headache for producers working in Pro Tools, and until now, chopping, pitching and stretching audio meant either bouncing to another DAW or dealing with clunky workarounds. Not anymore.

Serato Sample brings the company’s renowned Pitch ‘n Time algorithm directly into Pro Tools, allowing instant time-stretching and pitch-shifting without the usual artifacts. Now you can chop, flip and isolate stems in seconds, all within your existing session. The plugin transforms raw audio into musical material faster than most dedicated samplers, which is exactly what Pro Tools has been missing.
Hex FX complements this with 50 effects and over 200 presets designed to add colour, texture and character to any sound. Together, these tools significantly expand creative possibilities for Pro Tools users who’ve been watching AU and VST users have all the fun.
The AAX release follows Serato’s recent integration of Spotify into Serato DJ Pro and Lite, giving DJs access to over 100 million tracks from their saved playlists and liked songs. Both updates reflect the company’s focus on artist-requested features rather than flashy additions nobody asked for.
Founded in 1999, Serato has consistently pushed audio software innovation forward. Their Pitch ‘n Time algorithm became the industry standard for time-stretching and forms the backbone of Serato DJ, used by some of the most iconic DJs working today. More recently, their real-time stem-splitting technology, Serato Stems, transformed the industry when it launched in 2022 and 2023.
AAX support for Sample and Hex FX is available now in Serato DJ. Full details are available in The Drop, and you can download the latest version at Serato. For local enquiries, head here.
