Limited to just 80 units and not yet fully revealed, the MK8/80AE is already generating buzz – and Rhodes is giving one away.

Rhodes is turning 80 this year, and the brand is marking the milestone the way it knows best – a limited-edition piano and a giveaway.

The MK8/80AE has been announced, with production restricted to just 80 units worldwide. Before the instrument has even been fully unveiled, Rhodes is running a global giveaway offering the chance to win one of the first off the line. Entries are open now via the Rhodes website, with additional entries available through social sharing.

Details on the instrument itself are yet to be revealed, but what came before it sets the tone. The MK8/75AE – released to mark Rhodes’ 75th anniversary – sold out shortly after its release and remains highly sought after. If the 75AE is any indication, the 80AE isn’t likely to sit around for long once it’s out.

For anyone newer to the Rhodes story, the MK8 is the brand’s current flagship electric piano, built as a return to the craftsmanship, aesthetic and principles of Harold Rhodes’ original instruments. The anniversary editions go further, offering something more considered and collectible – made for players who want both the history and the instrument in their hands. With just 80 units planned, that scarcity is very much part of the allure.

Eighty years is a significant run for any music brand, let alone one whose sound has been woven this deeply into recorded music. From soul and jazz to R&B, film scores and pop, the Rhodes electric piano has been a part of records since the ’50s and hasn’t lost its relevance since.

Full specifications and details on the MK8/80AE will be announced in the coming months. The giveaway is live now and open globally.
