“Rhodes Vari-Amp marks a bold new chapter in our sonic adventures,” said Dan Goldman, Chief Product Officer at Rhodes Music. “It captures the magic of the most sought-after Rhodes preamps, alongside classic workhorse amps and studio-grade microphones, putting timeless tone right at your fingertips.”
Built around a dual-module architecture, Vari-Amp features separate Preamp and Amp/Mic sections, each with independent dry/wet blend controls for precise tonal sculpting. This design allows users to dial in everything from subtle warmth to full-blown character transformation on individual tracks or across entire mixes.
Each preamp circuit draws from Rhodes’ historic catalogue, modelling units from the MK1 ’79 Suitcase and hot-rodded variations through to the modern MK8. These models reproduce the original EQ topology and harmonic response of their respective eras, capturing the tonal DNA with attention to detail.
The amplifier section includes eight models: Duo, 8015 Combo, L5, Rhodes Suitcase Cabinet, Rhodes Satellite, ACT PA and EXPR Combo. Eight microphone models span dynamic, condenser and ribbon types, while additional processing includes a three-mode drive circuit, compressor with parallel mix control, global EQ and reverb modules.
Input gain interaction influences circuit response and harmonic structure, with preset management built in for quick recall and session integration.
Rhodes Vari-Amp is available now through the official Rhodes Music store.
