Much of Bettencourt’s original 90s styled N4 design has been retained, with a thinner ebony fingerboard and deeper neck profile. Washburn have also given the body contours a revamp, as well as adjusting the pitch of the 25.5″ scale length birdseye maple neck, designed to improve tuning stability and intonation.
Elsewhere, the 4N is a beautiful but familiar beast – fashioned into an alder body with a Stephens Extended Cutaway and a Floyd Rose Original Tremolo with Kahler nut. The Floyd Rose sits closer to the body on the 4N, requiring the Kahler nut to hold pitch. The axe packs Seymour Duncan ’59 and Bill Lawrence L-500 pickups, complete with a single volume control and three-way selector switch. Similar to the N4, a “4N” logo adorns the pickguard.
