Available in either a combo format or as a compact head, the Statesman features a red channel and a blue channel, each with specific functionality. While the red channel utilises the two-knob preamp from Supro’s popular Thunderbolt amplifier and provides high-headroom power, the blue channel contains tube-driven reverb, high-gain preamp and an all-tube effects loop including ‘wet-only’ effects able to be blended with the red channel’s dry sound.
The Statesman 50W power amp is also switchable between Class A and Class AB operation. Those looking for the distinctive midrange Supro sound will find it with the Class A setting while a sound with less compression and more headroom can be achieved thanks to the Class AB configuration.
