PRS advance the SE lineup with the new SE Hollowbody II Piezo

The inclusion of the piezo pickup, designed in conjunction with acoustic preamp masters LR Baggs, allows players to achieve acoustic tones that bring the best out of the SE Hollow II’s thinline construction.

These acoustic tones can be isolated or blended with the guitar’s 58/15 ‘S’ humbuckers, with the guitar also featuring two separate outputs and volume controls for each pickup system onboard. There’s also a failsafe system to ensure the humbuckers continue to output sound if the piezo battery dies, making for a pretty nifty guitar for gigging.

The PRS SE Hollow II Piezo is also constructed with a five-ply laminate maple with mahogany for the sides and neck, and features an ebony fretboard and classic PRS stoptail bridge for good measure.

PRS Guitars’ COO Jack Higginbotham discussed the instrument in a statement released today, saying that  “Just a few years ago, it would not have occurred to us to bring a guitar with the Hollowbody II Piezo’s feature set into the SE Series, but we feel it is another example of how we are advancing our SE lineup.

“We have worked very closely with Lloyd Baggs and the LR Baggs team to take our award-winning piezo system and design a no-compromise version for the SE Series. At the end of the day, our goal is to offer players professional-grade tools across all our lines. Due to its versatility and adaptability, we are especially excited to see how this guitar plays into recording at this time, and it will be an exceptionally unique tool when gigging players are able to resume their performances.”
