The original ‘Cloud’ guitar, which was favoured by Prince while conquering the music world around the release of Purple Rain, was listed by Julien’s Auctions earlier this year, along with a whole stash full of other Prince artefacts, including original costumes and memorabilia. Taking place at New York City’s Hard Rock Cafe for the Music Icons: Property From The Life And Career Of Prince event, the original Cloud ended up going for an eye-boggling $225,000, while a white Scheter reissue of the guitar commissioned by Prince for a tour in 2002 went for $38,397.
