Considering that Orange have been producing dependably high quality valve amps for over 50 years, this news does indeed sound promising, with the company promising ‘the same warmth, natural compression and rich harmonics’ as can be found in their other products.
Channel A is a valve intended for active and passive instruments, with a wide frequency range thanks to its unique circuitry, designed to capture the subtleties of acoustic guitars. It features a ‘Heat’ control, which affects the tonal response of the valve, adding more ‘air’ to the sound – perfect for fingerpicking – the more it is increased.
The solid state Channel B comes with completely different tonal characteristics, with a ¼ inch instrument input and an XLR input with switchable 48V phantom power.
Both channels can used separately or blended together depending on the application. They have a three band EQ with parametric mid-control and switches to correct phasing problems. There are also effects inserts on each channel and an inbuilt stereo reverb.
