NAMM 2020: Solid State Logic debut new SSL 2 and 2+ audio interfaces

Featuring class-leading microphone preamps and a Legacy 4k enhancement mode inspired by SSL’s reigning 4000 outboard console series, Solid State Logic tout the claim that the SSL 2 and 2+ are the “best sounding interfaces at their price point”. When you check out the specs list, you’d be hard-pressed to disagree with this claim – so let’s dive in.

As the more affordable of the two, the SSL 2 offers a simple two input/two output solution with a pair of pristine analogue microphone preamps, a headphone output and an intuitive monitor mix control. The SSL 2 operates at 24-bit/192kHz, and features balanced monitor outputs with an impressive dynamic range. Pair it with that Legacy 4K mode, and you’ll be neck deep in analogue SSL-style sparkle.

For those looking for a few more options to sync up to electronic instruments, the SSL 2 + adds an additional headphone output with it’s own monitor mix, as well as unbalanced outputs for CDJs or mixers and a simple MIDI I/O. What’s more, both interfaces come paired with a loaded SSL Production Pack that features SSL Native Vocalstrip 2 and Drumstrip plugins, 1.5GB worth of Loopcloud samples and Avid Pro Tools First, Ableton Live Lite, Native Instruments Hybrid Keys and Komplete Start. If you’ve been saving that Christmas cash for a new studio setup, we highly recommend splashing it all on this.
