NAMM 2019: Fender Custom Shop announces Annual and Prestige collections

The Fender Custom Shop Annual Collection is designed to showcase the latest innovations to emerge from the Fender Factory, and the guitar giants aren’t holding back in 2019. This year’s collection arrives in four distinct iterations: Limited Edition, Time Machine, Postmodern and Vintage Custom.

Meanwhile, the Prestige collection boasts 11 new guitars for 2019:

Fender Prestige Collection 2019

  • Paul Waller: Building Block Strat
  • Jason Smith: Luna Y Sol
  • Scott Buehl: Prestige Frosted Duco Tele
  • Yuriy Shishkov: Silence
  • Dennis Galuszka: Hawaiian Fish Hook Telecaster
  • Dale Wilson: Spalted Maple Telecaster
  • Todd Krause: Goldfish Stratocaster
  • Greg Fessler: Battle of Missionary Ridge Tele
  • John Cruz: Exotic Thinline Stratocaster
  • Ron Thorn: Coronado Antigua Burst
  • Kyle McMillin: The Exotic Hybrid

We’ve taken the liberty of sharing a brief rundown of some collection highlights below:

PAUL WALLER BUILDING BLOCK STRAT

Made from actual toy building bricks, Paul Waller’s signature follows his 2015 Cardboard Strat and is designed to appeal to “the young at heart.” Features include handmade hardware imitating traditional brick pieces, made of guitar-worthy materials.

JASON SMITH LUNA Y SOL

A custom Precision Bass inspired by Jason Smith’s meeting with artist Madeline Hanlon at last year’s NAMM. The unique wood-burned image and red coral inlays are a huge drawcard for this design.

DENNIS GALUSZKA HAWAIIAN FISH HOOK TELECASTER

Inspired by Galuszka’s love of Hawaiian culture, this Telecaster features a vintage pickup and rope binding on the hook – the first of its kind on a guitar.

DALE WILSON SPALTED MAPLE TELECASTER

Featuring a Violin Burst to highlight the spalted maple top, the Dale Wilson Telecaster is an ideal choice for players who appreciate exotic wood guitars. It also features herringbone binding and P90 pickups in conjunction with a hand-wound Josephina Broadcaster pickup.

Fender has also shared news of amplifier updates as part of this jam-packed announcement, introduced as the following three releases: One of a Kind Walnut Double Champ Amplifier 120V, ’64 Deluxe Tiki Amp & Stratocaster Set, and ’64 Deluxe Kraken Amp & Telecaster Set.
