Martin unveils special edition Woodstock 50th Anniversary acoustics

Arriving in time for NAMM 2019, the Woodstock 50th Anniversary models feature imagery and finishes designed to recall the iconic 1969 festival. The models in question – the DX Woodstock and D-35 Woodstock – have been created in partnership with the Woodstock Foundation.

“If you trace everything that happened to me, from my teens all the way to the creation of Woodstock, it’s as if there has been a Martin guitar slung over my shoulder every step of the way,” said Joel Rosenman, Woodstock co-founder. “…It’s been an exciting road from our 1969 Woodstock to this year’s 50th Anniversary Festival. These Woodstock Commemorative-Edition guitars bring back memories.”

Specs-wise, the DX Woodstock pairs an HPL top with mahogany back and sides, Fishman electronics, and custom artwork by Robert F. Goetzl replicating the aesthetic of the original festival poster.

Meanwhile, the D-35 Woodstock retains the famed features of the reimagined D-35, including a Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, and antique white binding. It also offers a custom headstock and pickguard inlay designed with elements of the 1969 poster in mind.

“We are proud that Martin guitars were played by so many of the iconic artists who stepped out on the Woodstock stage,” said Chris Martin, Chairman and CEO of Martin Guitar. “It’s truly an honour to partner with the folks at the Woodstock Foundation to commemorate this pivotal moment in music history.”

Martin Guitars are distributed in Australia through Electric Factory. Want to add another Martin innovation to your collection? You’ll want to read up on their Poker Dogs acoustic.
