Influenced by the signal chain utilised to create the filth-mongering, eardrum demolishing tones heard on the band’s latest album Life Metal, the EarthQuaker Devices Life Pedal is designed to be used in tandem with a huge stack of vintage tube amplifiers, ideally at the highest volume possible for the best possible results.
The octave fuzz circuitry of the effect is inspired by vintage Shin-Ei FY2 and FY6 units of days gone by, which lead into a ProCo Rat-voiced LM308 chip distortion with a three-way clipping switch (op Amp, Asymmetric and Symmetric). The second stage of the EQD Life Pedal functions as a pure clean boost, allowing users to kick the preamp tubes of their preferred amplifier into glorious, overtone drenched feedback.
