Teased on social media around a fortnight ago, ‘Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better’ definitely isn’t Skinner or Parker’s finest work, although you can’t deny it’s got a weird, awkward charm about it. It’s also paired with a social distancing themed video directed by Skinner himself, which you can suss out below. At any rate, it’s good to see Skinner is still using that old brick phone that got him in so much strife throughout A Grand Don’t Come For Free.
‘Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better’ will feature on the new mixtape None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive, which is set to arrive on Friday July 10 via Island. It’s said to be a collaborative-based tape that sees Skinner uniting with the likes of Jimothy Lacotse, Ms Banks, Hak Baker and punk favourites IDLES, with Skinner describing his track with the latter as being a “a sea-shanty tinged track inspired by an overnight ferry to Dover”.
