Pulled over for travelling 145kmh, the driver soon informed the attending officer that he was listening to Mötley Crüe’s 1989 track ‘Kickstart My Heart’. At 180 BPM, the song understandably – but nonetheless illegally – saw the driver plant his foot a little harder than necessary.
“This driver’s excuse for going 145kmh? ‘Kickstart my Heart’ by Mötley Crüe was on the radio,” wrote the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba in a Facebook post.
“Funny enough, our officer knew he was telling the truth, since he was also listening to it – just at a much slower & safer speed. Fined $639.”
Fellow commuters took to the comments section to offer their two cents, with some noting tracks that ignite their speed – AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ and, ironically, Judas Priest’s ‘Breaking the Law’ – while one person suggested perhaps the driver would’ve benefited from listening to Foghat’s ‘Slow Ride’ instead.
