The new edition features a set of recordings without the controversial “countrypolitan” overdubs on the original 1975 release, which many fans did not like, as well as performances recorded live during May and June 1975.

Elvis Presley’s Today was recorded at RCA Studios in Hollywood in March 1975, and was the last major studio recording that he would do before his death in 1977. The Today (Legacy Edition) is now being released 40 years on from the session, and features never before heard Elvis performances.

Today was not originally a roaring success, especially compared to other Elvis albums. It peaked at 57 on the American charts, and despite having a few successful singles, was not one of his most notable works.
