We’ve complied a bit of a snapshot of what’s happening across the country. Here are just some of the many, many awesome events that you can take part in. So do the right thing, head out to your local independent record store, buy a record and enjoy some quality live music. 

 

Greville Records

152 Greville St, Prahran, Melbourne

Greville Records in Prarahn, one of the most beautful record stores in Melbourne, is celebrating Record Store Day with a performance from Australian legend Paul Kelly as well as Saint Jude, Naked Bodis and A Whale Called Phoenix.

 

Northside Records

236 Gertrude St, Fitzroy, Melbourne

Few stores in Melbourne have as much Soul as Northside records, both in nature and in content. They too will be celebrating Record Store Day with a performance from Paul Kelly. Paul will be performing at Greville St earlier in the day, and then hosting the Merri Soul Sessions at Northside later in the evening. Emma Donovan & the Putbacks will also be performing, as will Ivan Choi and band with DJs playing throughout. 

 

Record Paradise

15 Union St, Brunswick, Melbourne

Record Paradise will be celebrating their love of local music with performances from local legends Oh Mercy, Fraser A Gorman and The Orb. Though the store has relocated to Brunswick from its old hom in St Kilda relatively recently, it has really found a community of record lovers in that short space of time, and Saturdays performance promises to be a good one.

 

Polyester Records

387 Brunswick St, Fitzroy, Melbourne

One of the cities most iconic stores. Polyester Records will be hosting an afternoon of insipid suburban slacker music in true Melbourne fashion. Bad Family headline the show at Polyester with support coming from Ciggie Witch and White Walls DJs.

 

Music Farmers

228 Keira Street, Wollongong

Music Farmers in Wollongong will be celebrating the day with special releases and giveaways from 10am. They’ll also host performances from local legends Shining Bird and Hockey Dad, who have been gaining quite a bit of attention from plenty outside their hometown of Wollongong.

 

Red Eye Records

143 York Street, Sydney

Red Eye Records will be hosting an acoustic performance from Gang Of Youths. They’ll also be celebrating with plenty of special releases and deals, so if your in the city, make sure you swing by.
 

Vital Juices Records

Shop 9, Jetty Arcade, 141 Redcliffe Pde, Redcliffe, Brisbane

Halfway took out both best song and best country song at the Queensland Musid Awards this year, and you can check them out at Vital Juices Records this Record Store Day with support from th Flloyd Family Breakdown.

 

Jet Black Cat Music

72a Vulture St, West End, Brisbane

Swing by Jet Black Car Music to check out Brisbane heros Blank Rearlm this Record Store Day. They’ll be playing instore with Jim Lawrie and Mosman Alder. You can also pick yourself up a sweet Courtney Barnett designed Tshirt in store (if you get there in time).

 

The Time Machine

101 Currie St, Nambour

Not to be outdone by the big cities, The Time Machine in Nambour will be putting on their own event that included live performances from Scraps, Brainbeau, The Perries and The Scrapes. If your in the area you should certainly make an appearance.

 

Streetlight

Shop 2/15 Vaughan Place, Adelaide

If your in Adelaide for Record Store Day, Streetlight is celebrating with live music from Ghyti, EMU, Stables Vices and The Yabbies.​ The store will be opening early, so you’ll have to get out of bed pretty quickly to snap up the quality wax, but if you sleep through your alarm don’t worry, the live music doesn’t start until 3pm.

 

78 Records

255 Murray St, Perth

78 Records will be bursting at the seams with diggers on Record Store Day with 15% off everything in the store expect for RSD releases and tickets. If your in Perth looking to get your mits on some new vinyl, then this is your place.
