Metallica Are Bringing Out A New Album, Planning A Spring Release

Metallica are currently finishing up in the studio after working on the follow-up album to 2008’s Death Magnetic. Drummer Lars Ulrich states, “If the record doesn’t come out this year, then it won’t be because it’s not done, it will be because there’s some sort of cosmic reason that it would be smarter to hold onto it until next year.”

The news initially coming from writer Dan Nykolayko, whom broke the news during an interview with Hetfield and Ulrich, the group seem to be at the end of their creative process and are now looking at when to share the record with the ‘universe’.

More recently, Hetfield added his two cents before performing the US National Anthem before a hockey match in San Jose. “We’re mixing it now, so hopefully by fall it’ll be out and hitting people’s ears,” explained Hetfield when asked if there was any news he would like to break. “We’re super stoked about it. It’s been a long time coming, and, you know, this is what we do. We love playing, and the next album is exactly what it’s supposed to be, so we’re excited about it,” he ended with.

Though there’s still no preview or snippet from the band, you can hear Hetfield contributing his vocals to 70’s rock-group Heart, on the upcoming release Beautiful Broken.
